What is the reason for blood clots during the middle of the menstrual cycle?

Patient's question:

Patient Gender: I am 35 years old. My last menstrual period came about 40 days later. However, after this period, about half a month later, there was sudden bleeding one evening, with blood clots. The next day, it stopped completely. What could be the reason?

Doctor's answer:

Hello: This may be ovulation bleeding.
Ovulation Bleeding
During the mid-cycle, i.e., the ovulation period, due to a temporary decline in estrogen levels, the endometrium loses hormonal support, leading to partial endometrial shedding and resulting in regular vaginal bleeding, known as ovulation bleeding. In traditional Chinese medicine, it is referred to as "intermenstrual bleeding."
Treatment
1. Western Medicine Treatment: Diethylstilbestrol 0.25–0.5 mg/day, starting 3 days before ovulation and stopping 2–3 days after the bleeding stops.
2. Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment: Liuwei Dihuang Wan, Gujing Wan, and Xuefu Zhuyu Wan.
Prevention and Care
1. Pay attention to menstrual and postpartum health care, maintain external genital hygiene, and prevent pelvic infection.
2. Keep a positive mood and avoid excessive stress.
