Detailed medical condition and consultation purpose: I have been pregnant for three and a half months. Normally, pregnancy symptoms should gradually subside, but mine have been getting worse. I used to vomit several hours after eating, but now I vomit even before finishing my meal. Then I feel weak and unable to eat, followed by vomiting yellow bile water. Moreover, I fear seeing food and even vomit at the mere mention of eating.Currently, I can only eat a small amount of fruit. Is it okay to only eat fruit and drink milk? Doctor's answer:
Hello: Morning sickness generally has no significant impact on the pregnant woman or fetus and will gradually subside over time. However, if severe pregnancy symptoms occur and persist for a long duration, it may adversely affect the growth and development of both the mother and the fetus. Severe anorexia, nausea, and vomiting can prevent the pregnant woman from obtaining adequate nutrition. As the fetus grows, its nutritional needs increase. If the pregnant woman also experiences dehydration, acidosis, and electrolyte imbalances, it can directly threaten the lives of both the mother and the fetus.Treatment:
- Get plenty of rest and sleep, and seek comfort and support from your husband, addressing any concerns or worries.
- Try to eat something to suppress nausea.
- Avoid foods and odors that make you feel uncomfortable.
- Eat small, frequent meals throughout the day.
- Take oral vitamin B6 10mg three times a day.
If vomiting persists frequently after these adjustments, especially when urine ketones are positive, hospitalization may be required. In some cases, termination of pregnancy may be necessary.
