Patient's question:
Hello: I have had vaginitis for about half a year. Recently, I have been using Fuyanjie liquid, and it has been somewhat controlled, but sometimes I find that my discharge is still not very good, especially when I feel tired. Is vaginitis related to a person's immunity? Currently, I feel that when I am tired from work, vaginitis tends to flare up, while it is relatively normal when I rest at home.Doctor's answer:
Hello: Candidal vulvovaginitis is very stubborn and has a high recurrence rate. Treatment should be standardized and cover the entire course. If diagnosed with candidal vulvovaginitis, a 2%--4% baking soda solution can be used daily to rinse the external genitalia and vagina or for sitz baths, with a 10-day course to alter the pH and create conditions unfavorable for the survival of the fungus. Then, nystatin can be used, such as in powder, tablet, suppository, or ointment form, inserted into the vagina or applied locally, at a dose of 10--20 million units per time, once nightly, with a 10--14-day course. The external genitalia can be treated with 3% miconazole ointment for better results. Due to the stubborn and recurrent nature of the disease, local treatment is generally preferred. However, oral nystatin tablets can also be taken, at a dose of 50--100 million units, three times daily, with a 7--10-day course, followed by a follow-up to confirm three negative results before considering it cured.
