Rural China Review (First Issue)

Author: Wu Yi, Editor-in-Chief
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2006-03-01
Features: In the current context where the "Three Rural Issues" have nearly become a public issue in China, establishing a continuous academic publication focused on rural China research is indeed a responsibility for us. However, finding one's own stance, standards, and academic space within existing research requires careful consideration. We hope it will be a sapling rooted in the Chinese perspective, absorbing academic insights from both domestic and international sources, and growing in the fertile soil of China's transforming rural experiences. With the meticulous nurturing of fellow scholars, it will flourish. Therefore, embracing diversity and bridging China and the world should be its inherent spirit, while facing reality and serving China should be its unwavering pursuit. Integrating disciplinary boundaries into problem-solving is its academic mission, emphasizing the academic enhancement of fieldwork experience is its fundamental feature, and attracting outstanding talent and fostering new entrants is the editor's modest "ambition." This book is a sister publication to the China Rural Governance quarterly, also edited by the China Rural Governance Research Center at Huazhong University of Science and Technology. If China Rural Governance aims to set the "academic trend" in rural China research through accessible reviews, short essays, and reflective pieces, then Rural China Review seeks substantial academic accumulation and profound, broad, and thoughtful scholarship. With the research of rural China as its primary focus, this annual journal will cover academic papers on all aspects of rural China, including politics, economics, law, society, culture, and history.
