Publish Date: 1996-08-01
Features: This book has several outstanding characteristics. Starting from the basic principles of decision theory, it analyzes specific issues in various fields such as politics, military, economy, morality, environment, and population from the perspective of decision theory. However, most existing decision theory works in China primarily introduce mathematical theories, and even when examples are provided, they are mostly hypothetical and abstract. Second, the author cites a large number of examples from the history of Chinese culture. On one hand, these examples are used to illustrate the logical principles of decision-making; on the other hand, they are employed to demonstrate how decision theory can be applied to analyze practical decision-making. These examples include the and alliances during the Warring States period, Zhuge Liang's strategy in the Longzhong Conference, and the Battle of Red Cliffs. In contrast, most decision theory works in China today rely on examples designed by Westerners. Third, the book criticizes the concept of rationality in Western decision theory and suggests understanding rationality from the perspective of scientificity. Fourth, game theory is still a relatively new discipline in the field of social sciences in China, and many game theory models and terms have not yet been translated into Chinese.
