Features: Works of the renowned French playwright Molière. Although some translations of his plays have been published domestically over the years, this is the first time all of his dramatic works have been collected and translated into English. This translation is primarily based on the French text Theatre Complet de Molière (The Complete Plays of Molière), with the original text published in 1682 and reprinted by Parisian publisher Ernest Flammarion, Editeur in 1944. Molière's works have been around for over three hundred years. Their themes are diverse, their intellectual depth is rich, their artistic power remains timeless, and the charm of their drama is boundless. Editing this Complete Plays of Molière has been a challenging endeavor. Throughout the editing process, we received strong support from Professor Gao Ruixin of the Theatre and Literature Department at the Central Academy of Drama. We sincerely express our gratitude for this. Although we have made great efforts in the publication of this Chinese translation, it is inevitable that some omissions may exist. The selected works in this book include: Le Barbier de Séville (The Misanthrope); The Hypocrite Doctor; The School for Wives; Love in the Country; The School for Wives; Scarron; The Jealous Prince; The School for Husbands; The Mischievous People; The School for Wives; The Debate on The School for Wives; Versailles Improvisation; Forced Marriage (Comedy).
