Features: This book is a foundational reading in the philosophy of science. It covers the following aspects: 1. The historical evolution of the philosophy of science (Introduction: The Rise and Turn of the Philosophy of Science; Chapter 5: The Reconstruction of Metaphilosophy); 2. The basic problems and framework of the philosophy of science (: The Logical Structure of Science; Chapter 2: Scientific Experiment and the Spatio-Temporal Framework; Chapter 4: The Logic of Scientific Discovery); 3. The purpose and methods of the philosophy of science (Chapter 3: The Meaning and Foundation of Science); 4. Special issues in the philosophy of science in China (Appendix: Reflections on Chinese Science and Philosophy). However, these sections are not clearly distinct in the text but rather intersect and are difficult to delineate precisely. Therefore, the book is roughly arranged in the following order: 1. General Overview (Introduction); 2. Orthodox Philosophy of Science (, , and , i.e., the logic of proof and analytical methods); 3. The Logic of Discovery (Chapter 4); 4. Beyond Orthodox Philosophy of Science (Chapter 5 and the Appendix, i.e., post-empiricism and the philosophy of science in China). "Reflections on Chinese Science and Philosophy" is included as an appendix primarily because the topic is highly important and should be covered. However, this section is not yet well-structured and represents a personal perspective, intended for selective reading. To help readers grasp the key points, major issues addressed in each chapter are listed at the beginning of the chapter.
