HPV virus patients need to pay attention to what?

Patient's question:

In 2012, after staying at Jialing Hospital for a cervical erosion surgery, I was found to have HPV virus. In 2009, I stayed at the hospital for a hysterectomy due to uterine fibroids.

Doctor's answer:

Hello! HPV (human papillomavirus) infection is clinically classified into high-risk and low-risk types. High-risk HPV is associated with cervical cancer, but it does not necessarily confirm cervical cancer. Combined with a TCT (Pap smear) test, if the TCT shows abnormalities and is accompanied by high-risk HPV infection, further colposcopic biopsy is required to ultimately rule out the possibility of malignancy. After ruling out malignancy, symptomatic treatment will be provided based on the specific examination results of the cervix. Follow-up with a TCT test is recommended approximately 3 months after treatment.
