Features: When compiling this book, the following points were noted:
(1) Inheriting from predecessors. China has a group of elderly experts on Eastern literature led by Ji Xianlin. They are highly knowledgeable, rigorous in their scholarship, and have dedicated decades to the field of Eastern literature research, accumulating numerous works that have earned them a reputation both domestically and internationally.
(2) Highlighting key points. There are many Eastern countries with long histories, and their literary works are vast. The content to be introduced conflicts with the book's capacity. How to address this? Our approach is to prioritize the integrity of the series while focusing on key points, avoiding an average approach and emphasizing the introduction of Eastern writers and works with global significance.
(3) Striving for innovation. We strive to use new materials, perspectives, angles, and approaches to achieve new breakthroughs. For example, ancient Indian literary theory is one of the three major literary theories in the world and holds significant importance, yet it has rarely been addressed before. This book dedicates a section to its introduction, timely reflecting the latest research of Chinese scholars.
(4) Emphasizing connections and comparisons. We focus on the connections between literature and other cultural categories. We also emphasize the relationships between Eastern literature, Western literature, Chinese literature, and among Eastern literatures themselves. Additionally, we pay attention to comparative analysis, highlighting both the differences and similarities. This helps in positioning Eastern literature within the global literary landscape and in recognizing its essential characteristics.
