Author Bio: R.A. Salvatore was born in Massachusetts, USA, in 1959. His love story with fantasy literature began quite early. When he was a freshman in college, he received "The Lord of the Rings" by J.R.R. Tolkien as a Christmas gift. Inspired by this, he switched his major from information science to journalism. In 1981, he earned a Bachelor's degree in Communication from Fitchburg State College in Massachusetts, USA, and later obtained a Bachelor's degree in English. Starting in 1982, he devoted himself seriously to writing, drafting the manuscript that would become the novel "Echoes of the Fourth Magic." His first published novel was "The Crystal Shard," released by TSR in 1988. Since then, he has written many novels, including "The Gem of the Dwarves," "Homecoming," and "The Legacy" (also a hardcover novel written by Salvatore for TSR). Throughout the middle years of his writing career, Salvatore held many jobs before finally (and we are very fortunate for this) deciding to become a full-time writer in 1990. The most famous and revered character created by Salvatore is the dark elf Tristram. His works have sold over three million copies worldwide and have been translated into many languages and audiobooks.
