A History of Chinese Literary and Artistic Scholarship in the 20th Century (Volume 3)

Author: Meng Huafan

Publish Date: 2001-03-01
Features: When writing the history of contemporary literature has become a "problem," writing the "academic history of contemporary literature" might seem even more challenging. However, as a researcher within the "system," one must first face the "task" before considering the "problem." It can be said that the content provided for academic history writing during the thirty years from 1949 to 1978 was quite scarce. Engaging in research related to the contemporary period inherently carries difficulties that do not exist in other disciplines, and these difficulties cannot be resolved simply through effort. Here, I would like to express my special gratitude to the Archives of the Chinese Academy of Sciences = Archives of the Ministry of Education, as they provided me with the convenience of access and made it possible for some materials to be used in this book.
