Features: "Collected Works Outside the Collection" is a compilation of poems and essays not included in Lu Xun's previously published collections of essays before 1933. It was published by Shanghai Qunzhong Book Company in May 1935, and only one edition was printed during Lu Xun's lifetime. This edition omits only two pieces that were later included in "Three Idle Collections": the preface "A Small Introduction" and the translation "Poem by Petofi Sandor." The "Supplementary Notes" for the three essays "After Chewing," "Chewing Need Not Be 'Boring'," and "Pastoral Thought" were personally copied by Lu Xun after the publication of "Collected Works Outside the Collection" and were originally intended for "Supplementary Notes to Collected Works Outside the Collection." They are now moved to the relevant main texts in this collection. The letter "Correspondence (Replied to Mei Jiang)" was added during this copying process. The second postscript originally omitted in the first edition is also included here. The old-style poems are arranged in chronological order of composition.
