Can candidiasis be treated if menstruation is not complete?

Patient's question:

I have an itchy lower body, and my underwear is always yellow. What's going on? Can candidiasis be treated if menstruation is not finished?

Doctor's answer:

In your case, it may be a fungal vaginal infection. Patients with fungal vaginal infection exhibit increased vaginal discharge, itching and burning sensation in the external genitalia and vagina, painful urination, and often redness and swelling around the external genitalia. The skin changes can vary widely; they may develop very shallow blisters and papules in clusters, or form eczema-like erosion, limited to the external genitalia or extending to the perineum, around the anus, and into the groin folds, resembling acute or subacute eczema completely. The labia and the area around the clitoris may show thickened mucosa, with redness and erosion on the skin surfaces that are in contact. In some cases, it can cause small white pustules, and in severe cases, it may lead to ulcers, pain in the external genitalia, and local lymph node enlargement. A solution of sodium bicarbonate can be used for external washing, which may be effective to some extent.
