Features: Compared to other historical periods, the status of poetry theory during the late Ming and early Qing was not particularly high, and it did not produce many major literary criticism works or prominent literary critics. If the debate between retrogression and naturalness that spanned over two hundred years in the Ming Dynasty is like a mountain, then the poetry societies in the Qing Dynasty were just like the lowlands between these two peaks. However, in terms of the development of literary criticism in the Ming and Qing dynasties, the low point of the late Ming and early Qing was both a continuation of Ming Dynasty poetry theory.
