Features: To showcase the arduous and magnificent journey of the past 20-plus years, summarize the valuable experiences accumulated by the Party in this great process, we wrote the book "History of China's Reform and Opening Up." Guided by the spirit of the 16th National Congress of the Party and the theories of Deng Xiaoping and the Important Thought of "Three Represents," the book comprehensively and systematically records the struggles of the Party over the past two decades. Leading the people of all ethnic groups in the country to liberate their minds, seek truth from facts, open up a new path for building socialism with Chinese characteristics, create a new situation in reform and opening up and socialist modernization, continuously keep pace with the times, innovate, withstand various difficulties and risks, and advance the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics to victory. For the 20-plus years of China's reform and opening up, we divide the process into three stages:
The first stage is from the Third Plenary Session of the 11th Central Committee of the Party to the 12th National Congress of the Party, that is, up to Chapter 3 of this book, which mainly records the realization of the great historical turning point, the comprehensive implementation of rectifying the mistakes and reversing the course, and the beginning of reform and opening up.
The second stage is from the 12th National Congress of the Party to the Southern Tour of Deng Xiaoping, which mainly records the comprehensive development of reform and opening up and the great achievements it made, as well as the setbacks it encountered and overcame.
The third stage begins with Deng Xiaoping's Southern Tour and ends in the late 20th century, which mainly records the process of China's socialist modernization accelerating its development and generally achieving the goal of a moderately prosperous society after the entry into a new stage of reform and opening up. This stage ends in the late 20th century. Starting from the 21st century, China has entered a new development stage of comprehensively building a moderately prosperous society and accelerating modernization.
