Features: Economic globalization has profoundly changed the subjects, structures, methods, processes, and meanings of governance, posing severe challenges to traditional nation-states, state sovereignty, government systems, and political processes, particularly the Westphalian sovereign state system that emerged in the mid-17th century. Theory of the state is closely linked to realpolitik. In fact, a state's fundamental foreign policy is always based on some philosophical foundation of state theory. Some major adjustments in Western foreign policy in recent years are directly or indirectly related to its new concept of state sovereignty. What we want to illustrate is that regardless of how scholars adhere to "value neutrality," any theory of the state is inevitably associated with the real world and is more or less influenced by the author's country, status, stance, and the interests of the groups they represent. Theory of the state is closely linked to realpolitik, and a state's fundamental foreign policy is always based on some philosophical foundation of state theory. In recent years, what is called humanitarian intervention is the inevitable result of human rights being considered superior to sovereignty; what is called preemptive strategy is the natural extension of a new imperialist theory that ignores state sovereignty; and what is called global governance strategy is the logical requirement of cosmopolitanism theory. Major adjustments in Western foreign policy are all directly or indirectly related to its new concept of state sovereignty. Economic globalization has had a profound impact on human political life. It has posed severe challenges to traditional nation-states, state sovereignty, political systems, and political institutions. This book provides a comprehensive introduction to various new theories of state sovereignty in the West. As influential theories of the state, they have already or are gradually influencing the policies of the author's government in various ways. In addition to their high academic value, these theories also provide valuable references for us to study the political stance and future trends of the country.
