How to treat less menstrual flow and prolonged menstrual period?

Patient's question:

I had my child on November 1, 2002. In late January 2003, I got an IUD (I haven't had my period yet). It wasn't until late August 2003 that I got my period, which lasted about 7 days. Then, in April and May 2004, my periods started to decrease in amount, and later they gradually became longer. In January 2005, I had the IUD removed, and I bled during the removal (for 3-4 days), which stopped after taking medication. Now, my period is still 10 days away from ending, and the flow is light, but the cycle is normal. I've been to the hospital, and there was no inflammation, and the ultrasound was normal too. I don't really know what disease I might have?

Doctor's answer:

There are many reasons that can cause a decrease in menstrual flow, such as endocrine disorders, gynecological inflammation, changes in the mental environment, and other factors related to the endometrium itself, such as endometrial tuberculosis causing endometrial lesions or conditions like induced abortion and curettage leading to thinning of the endometrium. Prolonged menstrual flow deficiency may result in amenorrhea or infertility. It is recommended that you visit a hospital for examination to identify the underlying cause and actively treat the symptoms accordingly to avoid affecting your health.
