Features: Educating and cultivating publishing professionals is essential for career development. Globally, publishing education has become a trend, with both developed publishing nations and developing countries emphasizing the growth of publishing education. After the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, to adapt to the rapid restoration and development of China's publishing industry, some universities successively established publishing majors. Through nearly a decade of arduous efforts, this major has grown from nothing to something, expanding from the humanities to the sciences and engineering, with cultivation levels ranging from undergraduate to graduate and dual-degree programs. In terms of discipline construction and talent cultivation, it has achieved positive results. Of course, editing is an emerging discipline, and the publishing major is still in the trial phase. Due to the influence or constraints of various factors and conditions, it is inevitable to encounter some difficulties and challenges. How to strengthen the construction of the editing major and better promote the development of teaching and research in the field of editing requires broader consensus among comrades and more attention and support. To strengthen the discipline construction of the editing major and promote the development of teaching and research in editing, further consolidating and advancing the publishing major, we have compiled the research report on "Publishing Programs in Higher Education Institutions under the State Press and Publication Administration and Their Feasibility" and scattered papers published in newspapers and magazines into the collection "Research Papers on Publishing Education" for reference during continued in-depth research and discussion.
