Features: Learning and memorizing English words has always been a frustrating challenge for Chinese students, often consuming a lot of time with limited results, becoming a bottleneck in English learning. How to overcome this difficulty is what this book aims to explore and address. Based on the newly released Graduate Entrance Examination English Syllabus, and considering the current situation of candidates preparing for the exam, this book selects approximately 2,500 core vocabulary words for the entrance exam. When explaining the meanings of words, it references multiple domestic and international corpus databases and arranges the definitions of words according to their frequency of use, based on the requirements of reading comprehension, translation, and cloze tests in recent years' graduate entrance exam papers. This approach ensures the completeness of the various meanings of words while avoiding the inclusion of obscure meanings or meanings no longer used in modern English, thereby minimizing the learning burden for candidates and achieving twice the result with half the effort. Additionally, to deepen understanding and further expand vocabulary memory, the book provides synonyms and antonyms under relevant word definitions. For learning English vocabulary, we have always advocated studying and memorizing every day. Practice has proven this to be a successful learning method. It allows us to gain something every day, accumulate small efforts into significant results, and gradually build up knowledge like collecting fur from foxes. To support and complement this method, we have designed the book with a compact size, making it easy to carry and allowing readers to open it anytime and anywhere for quick memorization. In terms of vocabulary compilation and printing, we use a two-color printing method, highlighting the parts to be memorized in color to create a visual stimulus for readers, thereby deepening their impression. This is an attempt to apply the principles of color and transfer them to vocabulary memorization. Building on this, we have also experimented with using colored plastic sheets to assist in memorizing English vocabulary. By covering the memorization items with colored plastic sheets and utilizing the principle of same-color coverage, we can achieve the goals of memorization, review, and self-checking. Another advantage of using colored plastic sheets for memorization is that they help in self-assessment. Typically, checking whether a word or phrase has been memorized requires the help of others, but with the colored plastic sheets provided in this book, readers can test themselves anytime and anywhere. Therefore, colored plastic sheets serve multiple learning functions and represent a new method for learning English vocabulary that we have developed through long-term exploration.
