Patient's question:
All symptoms: Lower abdominal pain, menstrual volume is small and dark.Onset time and cause: 2-3 years.
Treatment history: None.
Help needed: How to treat.
Doctor's answer:
1. For larger pedunculated polyps that can be seen or felt in the lower segment of the uterus, the polyps can be removed by dilating the cervix, followed by a cervical and uterine scraping procedure to remove any remaining polyps and send them for pathological examination.2. For small focal or diffuse polyps, a D&C (dilation and curettage) is performed, with attention to thorough scraping, especially at the fundus and cornual areas of the uterus.
3. After uterine surgery, anti-infection treatment should be administered. Clinically, oral or intravenous antibiotics can be given.
4. For patients with significant bleeding symptoms that do not resolve with the above treatments or who experience frequent recurrences, hysterectomy should be considered. Whether removal is necessary depends on the size of the polyps. Very large polyps that protrude into the uterine cavity may compress the fetus if pregnancy occurs, affecting its development. If the polyps are small, no treatment may be needed.
