Desire Era

Features: This is a good novel. Jiang Shaojie is a person like Julien Sorel. He descends from a simple rural youth to become a ruthless executioner, drawing a never-ending, incomplete period for his life. What drives Jiang Shaojie to descend is his insatiable desires. The tragedy of Jiang Shaojie's life is a cautionary tale: one cannot live without desires, but nor can one let desires grow maliciously; one cannot live without goals, but nor can one resort to any means to achieve them.
