The Korean Listening Series is designed for university Korean majors and Korean learners in the general public. The Korean Listening Course is suitable for first- and second-year university Korean majors and Korean beginners in the general public. Listening is a crucial component of the Korean learning process. However, due to the scarcity of Korean listening materials in China, both teachers and students face significant challenges. With the aim of providing listening materials for university Korean instruction and Korean learners in the general public, several teachers from Shandong University who specialize in Korean teaching and research have jointly developed this Korean Listening Course based on years of teaching and textbook writing experience.
The Korean Listening Course consists of four volumes: Beginner Course I, Beginner Course II, Intermediate Course I, and Intermediate Course II. The content covers Korean society, history, culture, customs, and more. Each volume contains 18 lessons, including 15 lessons with texts and exercises, as well as 3 unit tests. Each lesson generally consists of 4–7 short passages or dialogues related in content. Each lesson typically includes 7–11 exercises, meaning each passage is accompanied by 1–2 exercises. Exercises are designed to check the reader’s understanding of the lesson content. Some lessons in the Beginner Course also include several Korean folk songs, allowing students to learn Korean in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere while also exploring Korean music.
The Beginner Course focuses on basic and practical daily-life content. The Intermediate Course deepens and broadens the themes of the beginner material, adding essential knowledge that Korean learners must acquire and understand. The content is rich and closely aligned with modern life.
