Features: Xu Zhimo's poetry is like a clear stream in a secluded valley; his prose is like a cloud in the dawn. Xu Zhimo is one of the few great poets in modern Chinese poetry, a leading figure of the "New Moon School" that flourished in the late 1920s and 1930s. His poems are Europeanized in style, flowing with inherent rhythm and melody, filled with sincere and abundant emotions, and include many famous works such as "Goodbye,." Xu Zhimo studied in the UK and the US, associating with a wide circle of prominent figures: Hu Shi, Liang Qichao, Yu Dafu, Shen Congwen, Bertrand Russell, Robert Browning, Rabindranath Tagore, and Edith Sitwell, all of whom were both social and cultural celebrities. Elders regarded him as both a mentor and a friend, while peers were close to him. Those who knew Xu Zhimo well praised his character and conduct, describing him as innocent, sincere, unattached to fame or fortune, selfless, lively, and witty—wherever Xu Zhimo was, laughter followed. This book selects works from his travel essays collection "What I Know of." It mainly includes several essays, such as "My Peter," "Fantasies by the Sea in Beidaihe," "Autumn Thoughts on the Indian Ocean," and "Sunrise Over Mount Tai."
