Features: Grieg (Edvard Grieg, 1843-1907), a Norwegian composer. The Norwegian National Music School has been one of the most renowned composers in Europe since the second half of the 19th century. He began composing at the age of 9 and graduated from the Leipzig Conservatory in 1862. In his musical compositions, he integrated Western European musical techniques with the harmonic characteristics of the 19th-century Romanticists Chopin, Schumann, Wagner, and others, blending them with Norwegian folk music to create a unique Nordic musical style. The melody of "Solveig" in his musical score for Ibsen's poetic drama Peer Gynt has a close connection to Norwegian folk songs. As a lyrical poet among musicians, Grieg was known as the "Norwegian Chopin."
