The original archival records cover the affairs of the Bacheng Chinese Gongguan (Gongtang) from June 8, 1832, to August 1, 1834, and from October 20, 1843, to June 7, 1844, spanning a decade. The main text of the original records was written in traditional Chinese calligraphy, running script, semi-cursive script, and cursive script, interspersed with ancient characters, variant characters, vernacular characters, and simplified characters in use at the time. This annotation has been standardized to modern simplified Chinese characters in mainland China.
In the original archives, years are recorded using Suzhou numerals, while months and days are written in Chinese characters. This annotation has standardized all dates to Arabic numerals.
In the original archives, monetary amounts, quantities of items, and numbers of people are often recorded using both large and small Chinese numerals or Suzhou numerals. This annotation has converted all monetary, measurement, and numerical data that may include decimals (non-integers) or three-digit numbers to Arabic numerals. For data with multiple levels of measurement units, this annotation has uniformly converted them to Arabic numerals.
