Features: This is a book from many years ago that has faced a lot of criticism, but it has always been one of my favorite books. How can a good author change their mind due to criticism? Records can be selected, and so can words. Of course, the difference is that my three books might be selected into one, while other authors might not find one good book among thirty. I really love the language passages in this book. Sometimes I am amazed by myself, thinking, "How could I write so well?" I doubt I could even come up with such ideas now—even when I reread my previous book, this thought always exists. Three Doors to the Gate and Racing with Youth were all part of the journey. Later, I found books I liked, such as Chang'an Chaos and A City of Walls. Some people ask me, "What do you think are the shortcomings in your writing?" I say, "I don't think I have any." Because all great authors are smart. If there are obvious flaws, smart people will naturally notice them, and if they are not satisfied with themselves, they will naturally revise. We cannot call style a shortcoming. Correcting every so-called shortcoming would bury all the strengths.
