1. The word is in bold. Words with the same spelling but different etymology and meaning are listed as separate entries. When a word has different spellings that are similar, they are listed under the same entry, separated by commas. If the spellings are significantly different, they are listed as separate entries, but the definition appears only once, with the other entry noting that it is the same as another word.
2. The word is followed by the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) notation for pronunciation. Affixes, word-building components, and abbreviations are generally not marked with pronunciation.
3. After the phonetic notation, the part of speech is indicated. The part of speech is written in English abbreviations. Compound words written as separate entries are generally not marked with part of speech.
4. Plural forms of nouns or nouns with the same singular and plural forms are marked in square brackets. When a word or an idiom has multiple different definitions, each definition is listed separately. After the definition, phrases or sentences are included as examples when necessary. Most derivatives and compound words are listed within the entry, while a few are listed as separate entries due to their common usage or complex definitions and usage. Derivatives and compound words listed within the entry are generally not marked with pronunciation. Derivatives listed within the entry are marked with part of speech. If a definition is equivalent to the main definition of the word, the definition is not repeated.
