Features: This collection serves as the graduation portfolio of 21 students from the inaugural High Research Class of the China Painting Research Institute, under the guidance of Jiang Baolin. In terms of form, it can also be considered a standalone painting album. However, in reality, it is one volume of a two-book set titled Clenching the Heart and Savoring the Image: China Painting Research Institute's Inaugural High Research Class, Jiang Baolin's Studio Works Collection. This volume is the painting part, while the other is titled Clenching the Heart and Savoring the Image: China Painting Research Institute's Inaugural High Research Class, Jiang Baolin's Studio Works Collection (the essay part). The relationship between these two volumes is not merely superficial, as they are bound together in a single cover, but rather they share an inseparable intrinsic connection.
Because this painting album is not only a summary of the achievements of the 21 students after a year of study and research but also a preliminary reflection of the teaching outcomes of Supervisor Jiang Baolin over the past year. Although this album is merely a preliminary manifestation of Baolin's teaching achievements over the year, and despite the diverse backgrounds, styles, artistic expressions, and linguistic characteristics of the students, as well as their varying ideological pursuits and thematic choices, there are at least three major characteristics when viewed holistically:
1. Inheriting and developing the essence of traditional Chinese painting while avoiding rigid imitation or mechanical application.
2. Solidity, which includes fundamental traditional skills, observational drawing abilities, life experience foundation, meaningful artistic expression, and creative attitude, among other aspects.
3. Seeking authenticity, where I place particular emphasis on genuine personality.
