Features: Both of us are professional workers engaged in the teaching and research of the history of the Communist Party of China for decades. Our research on the history of the "Cultural Revolution" has also been going on for nearly 20 years. Due to the special complexity and twists of the history of the "Cultural Revolution," some issues have not yet been fully analyzed. However, we believe that it is indeed time to provide a systematic elaboration, in-depth research, and discussion of the 10-year history of the "Cultural Revolution." The current state of research on the "Cultural Revolution" still has a significant gap compared to the urgent need of the general public to understand history and seriously learn from the lessons. A thorough analysis and summary of major historical events often require a long time, or even the efforts of several generations. But the responsibility of researching the history of the "Cultural Revolution" should not only be left to future generations. We, as firsthand witnesses of the "Cultural Revolution," have an inescapable responsibility. It is this heavy sense of historical responsibility that has given us the courage to write this "Brief History of the 'Cultural Revolution'" and contribute our research findings as a personal perspective to the readers. We hope to contribute a small part of our strength to the research on the history of the "Cultural Revolution," and at the same time, through discussion and exchange, we hope to advance our own research on the history of the "Cultural Revolution."
