Features: With the rapid development of fundamental immunology, modern rheumatology is emerging as an independent discipline and rapidly rising worldwide. Since the establishment of the International League Against Rheumatism in 1923, especially after the 7th International League Against Rheumatism representative conference in 1944, many countries and regions have successively established their own rheumatology professional societies. This has not only raised public awareness of rheumatism but also expanded the research scope of rheumatism, revealing many immune pathogenesis mechanisms of rheumatic diseases, thereby providing a reliable theoretical basis for the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic diseases. Rheumatic diseases are common conditions with complex causes, long courses, and a tendency to recur, making treatment challenging. They have long been listed as one of the world's most difficult-to-treat diseases. Preliminary surveys estimate that the prevalence rate of rheumatoid arthritis in China is 0.3% to 0.5%, ankylosing spondylitis is 0.2% to 0.4%, Sj?gren's syndrome is 0.29% to 0.77%, and systemic lupus erythematosus is 75.4 per 100,000. Based on the country's population of 1.2 billion, patients with only these four diseases could number as high as 10 to 20 million. With the improvement of living standards, changes in dietary structures, and the emergence of social issues such as population aging, China has at least 50 million patients with osteoarthritis among its vast population of over 100 million elderly. Gouty arthritis is also on the rise. Based on a comprehensive collection of research materials on rheumatic diseases from both Chinese and Western medicine at home and abroad, combined with decades of clinical practice and the current research status in China, this book, Rheumatic Diseases: Chinese and Western Diagnosis and Treatment, has been compiled to be dedicated to medical professionals engaged in Chinese medicine, Western medicine, and integrated Chinese and Western medicine research on rheumatic diseases, as well as all those passionate about the prevention and treatment of rheumatic diseases. This book comprehensively elaborates on the basic knowledge and latest research progress of rheumatic diseases from the perspectives of Chinese and Western medicine, striving to cover a broad and novel scope, present content in an accessible and profound manner, and ensure clarity in both writing and logic.
