"Medical Three-Character Classic": Four volumes. Volume 1 and 2 briefly introduce the origins of medicine, as well as the symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment of 35 common diseases and syndromes in internal, gynecological, and pediatric medicine.
"True Form of Cold Damage Rhyme" is one of Chen's representative works. It consists of six volumes. The author organizes the formulas from the "Treatise on Cold Damage" according to the six channels, providing arguments for each formula and establishing examples. The book lists 96 rhymes across 15 chapters, covering methods for conditions such as the sun channel, sun channel errors, transformation syndromes, yangming channel, shaoyang channel, taiyin channel, jueyin channel, and post-recovery syndromes after yinyang exchange.
"Changsha Form Rhyme": Six volumes. Based on his in-depth study of the "Treatise on Cold Damage," Chen expressed the main indications, medications, dosages, and preparation methods of the 112 formulas in the treatise using rhymes. The content is concise and easy to memorize. Annotations are added after each formula to provide comprehensive evaluations for readers' understanding.
"Golden Cabinet Form Rhyme": Six volumes. It includes 206 formulas from the "Golden Cabinet" with 166 rhymes. Each formula begins with the original text from the "Essentials from the Golden Cabinet," followed by a rhyme summarizing the formula's name, indications, medication dosages, and preparation methods, and concludes with an explanation.
"Timely Form Rhyme": Two volumes. It selects 108 commonly used formulas from the Tang and Song dynasties onwards, categorizing them into 12 types based on their efficacy and properties: tonifying, heavy, light, dispersing, promoting, draining, slippery, astringent, dampening, drying, cold, and hot.
This book was written in the sixth year of the Jiaqing reign (1801). It exists in multiple editions, and after the founding of the People's Republic of China, a photocopied edition combined with "Timely Form Miraculous Use" was published. The new annotated edition is based on the Jiaqing edition and references the combined publication of "Timely Form Rhyme" and "Timely Form Miraculous Use" published by the People's Health Publishing House in 1964, as well as other relevant works, for collation.
