Features: This collection is compiled from twenty-nine previously published articles written by the author after the Cultural Revolution. The selected works are submitted to the publisher as part of the "Contemporary Scholars' Self-Selected Collection." The content is divided into four parts:
(1) Emancipating the Mind and Rectifying Chaos (6 articles). The discussions on the truth standard and the positioning of the primary stage of socialism are debates in which the author participated as one side and recorded them truthfully. Readers are advised to pay special attention, as this is an issue that has been quite confused or oversimplified.
(2) Re-examining Marxism (7 articles). The author points out that while everyone is now talking about theoretical innovation, true innovation can only be achieved by re-evaluating, re-considering, breaking free from old frameworks, and following a path of self-reflection, self-correction, and self-development. Otherwise, it is impossible.
(3) Bridging Socialism and Capitalism (7 articles). The author believes that the core of Deng Xiaoping Theory, which is widely discussed today, lies in correctly handling the relationship between socialism and capitalism, as well as the relationship between the public sector and the non-public sector, thereby providing a channel for communication between socialism and capitalism.
(4) History and Literature (9 articles). The author emphasizes that conclusions should be drawn from history, not the other way around, and this is also true for Marxism. For Marxism to take root in China today, it must draw nourishment from China's traditional historiography and philosophy. Otherwise, Marxism will fail to achieve its genuine sinicization. Each article is accompanied by an introduction.
The author is a distinguished Marxist scholar in China. The works included in this collection are the author's reflections after the Cultural Revolution and the collapse of the Soviet Union. Many of them express the author's new insights and are expected to attract readers' attention.
