Features: "The Roster of the People's Liberation Army Commanders," which compiles the resumes and photographs of the marshals and generals promoted to rank between 1955 and 1964. The book is published in volumes. The marshals and generals are arranged according to the official list announced at the time. Others are ordered by seniority from the rank of marshal, general, lieutenant general, and major general, with names within the same rank sorted by stroke order. Generals promoted between 1955 and 1964, who received higher ranks in 1988 (inclusive) or later, are introduced in the text but not listed in the roster order. The volume includes 10 marshals, 10 generals, 57 lieutenant generals, and 177 major generals. The 1,360 major generals are divided between the second and third volumes. A few individuals later took a negative path, but to accurately reflect history and fully preserve the historical records, they are still included in this book. By August 2005, all available materials for this book had been compiled. Due to the large number of units and frequent changes in personnel, some individual records remain incomplete. We will continue to collect materials for further revisions.
