Features: Though a person may be temporarily defeated, their spirit and will can never be broken! A treasure in the world literary treasury, a gem among all of Hemingway's works, one of the 100 classics that have influenced history. Awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1954. A weathered fisherman faces one failure after another, how does he struggle against nature? This book primarily depicts the three days and nights of a lonely old fisherman, Santiago, engaged in a fierce battle with a marlin and various sharks on the vast sea. It fully conveys the tragedy and nobility of Santiago's desperate struggle against fate. In the end, the old man brings home only the skeleton of an 18-inch-long fish, with only the head and the beautiful tail remaining intact. In material terms, Santiago's battle over three days and nights ended in failure; but in terms of human confidence and self-respect, in terms of his courage to fight fate with all his might, Santiago achieved victory. This indomitable spirit became one of the most famous "tough guy" figures in literary history.
