Features: Since childhood, watching my mother (Ms. Pan Meiling) take many ball-like objects and pull out long, long threads, which eventually became beautiful works! Perhaps out of curiosity, under the influence of daily exposure, I unknowingly learned some basic handcrafting techniques from her. Although I secretly used leftover threads to create small fabric pieces without knowing what to do with them, my little heart was greatly satisfied! When I grew up, I learned from my grandmother that when I was very young, my mother often knitted sweaters for subcontracting while carrying me on her back. I then realized that my connection with "handicrafts" began long before I was a child.
After entering middle school, I started "going crazy" with "lucky ropes" with my classmates. At that time, there were no tools to assist in braiding, so I always braided them "by hand," one knot at a time, slowly. It took a considerable amount of time to complete a piece. My classmates admired my works and wanted to have them too, but they always gave up because some patterns were too complex to learn no matter how hard they tried. The only thing I could do for them at that time was to give them lucky ropes on their birthdays. The satisfied expressions on their faces when receiving the gifts were still fresh in my memory, and it strengthened my belief that lucky ropes truly bring happiness!
With the advancement of technology, there are now tools to assist in braiding lucky ropes—braiding looms—making the process no longer difficult or time-consuming. I am delighted to introduce this tool to all of you. In addition to following the instructions in the book, you can also be creative by trying different color combinations and making unique patterned works. It’s fun!
It was a truly happy moment for me to have the opportunity to collaborate with my mother on this small book (many of the works inside are my personal creations!). I finally have the chance to shout to those friends who gave up on hand braiding due to its difficulty: "Dear friends! When your birthdays come, you no longer need to wait for me to make lucky ropes for you! The works in the book are rich in content, easy to operate, and simple to understand! You can choose your own color combinations and make them with your own hands!"
