Features: In 1993, the renowned philosopher Huang Kejian and the education scholar Zhang Wenzhi engaged in a dialogue where they proposed three dimensions of education: imparting knowledge, awakening wisdom, and enlightening or enriching life. From then on, a new educational philosophy began to enter the field of Chinese educational research and practice, one that treats knowledge with life, governs education with life, and fulfills every specific, well-rounded life. In 2001, a research project named "Life-Oriented Education" was officially launched in urban and rural schools in Fujian Province and gradually expanded to schools across the country. The vibrant, ethereal, and sincere educational beliefs—such as "civilian stance, grassroots sentiment, fieldwork, and gradual progress" and "awakening wisdom, enriching life, forging model schools, and accomplishing the future"—shone with the intellectual brilliance and practical charm of this new educational movement, attracting the attention of more and more people who hold hope for education.
