Features: I first chose his Gitanjali because it was my favorite book in Tagore's poetry collection. Later, I learned that Gitanjali was also one of his most representative works. Through this poetry, I traveled through his beautiful and prosperous land, met his resilient and gentle women, and connected with his innocent and lively children. After 1953, I visited India many times and had the opportunity to see everything he described. I completely acknowledged that Tagore belonged to the Indian people. Tagore's fame far exceeded his national boundaries. I deeply regret that I have not learned the melodious Bengali language. The translations of Gitanjali and Gardener that I made were all from English—although the English versions of these two poetry collections were also written by Tagore himself—I could only convey a little of the poetic essence and philosophy of these poems, even with my utmost efforts, and the musicality of the original texts was completely lost.
