American Literature Selected Readings, Volume 3

Author: Yang Qishen et al. (Editor-in-Chief)
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 2005-06-01
Features:
1. American Literature Reader is compiled and annotated by the Department of Foreign Languages, Fudan University, and consists of three volumes: Volume 1, from the American Revolution to the Second World War; Volume 2, between the two World Wars; Volume 3, from the post-war period to the 1980s.
2. Most selections in this book are composed of four parts: "Author Introduction," "Introduction to the Work," "Selection," and "Annotations." A few "Selections" can stand alone as chapters, and relevant reviews are mentioned in the "Author Introduction," so the "Introduction to the Work" is omitted for these. Additionally, some "Selections" are relatively clear and easy to understand, with any necessary explanations provided in the "Introduction to the Work," so the "Annotations" are omitted for these.
3. Writers and their works are generally arranged in chronological order by birth date and publication time.
4. This book was reviewed by Professor Zhu Shuqian of the Foreign Languages Department of the People's Liberation Army Foreign Languages Institute and Mr. Tang Yongkuan, a senior editor at Shanghai Translation Publishing House. We are deeply grateful for their contributions. We also extend our sincere thanks to Professor Sun Li and Professor Lu Gusu of the Department of Foreign Languages, Fudan University, for their valuable suggestions.
5. During the compilation and annotation process of this book, we were greatly assisted by Professors Zhu Jianxin, Wang Aiping, Fang Zhiping, and graduate student Yang Binbin, as well as colleagues from the Foreign Languages Department's reference room and office. We are deeply grateful to them.
6. The names of the colleagues who participated in the compilation and annotation of this book are listed at the end of the "Author Introduction," "Introduction to the Work," or "Annotations" they contributed to. If one person was responsible for three parts (or the first two parts), their name is listed after the last part. Due to the large number of contributors, individual names are not listed here.
