Features: Restorative justice represents a return to a traditional, deeply rooted, yet obscured judicial theory, now emerging in the contemporary era with its broad impact bringing hope for the future of criminal justice. Restorative justice is benevolent, emphasizing understanding, forgiveness, shame, and compassion; it is warm, focusing on the connection of hearts and embodying a strong sense of humanistic care. The academic mission of the Restorative Justice Research Center is to systematically introduce the theory and practice of restorative justice in the host countries to China; to conduct comprehensive research and exploration on China's current criminal justice system and the ongoing criminal justice reforms from the perspective of restorative justice, and to propose a series of rational reform suggestions. The ultimate goal is to promote the development of the rule of law and human rights in China's criminal justice field, advance the modernization of China's criminal legal system, and contribute its modest efforts to the construction of a harmonious society in China.
