We hope it can stand the test of time and the scouring of history, as the friends who support this endeavor have wished: "The 60 Writers of the Century" will be a classic collection in major libraries, a must-read for candidates in humanities at universities, and a subject of attention from the world. This is a successful creative practice and an important achievement of contemporary Chinese literature. Yu Hua's cold and sharp analysis and questioning of life; his clear and vigilant stance toward history and reality; his passionate and simple love for the lives of the underprivileged; his awareness of the golden light of humanity shining through suffering! Who is he? He is Yu Hua, the author of "To Live" and "Brothers." In the 1980s, Yu Hua possessed the courage and sharpness to confront the world and pierce existence, much like Dostoevsky. In these works, he, like Dostoevsky, stoops into the bottomless abyss, keeps his cruel eyes wide open in the face of darkness, tries to penetrate the boundless darkness, and reaches the hidden truth that everyone avoids.
