Features: This book is divided into three parts:
Part 1: Core Vocabulary (Days 1-15)
Core vocabulary refers to the most important, detailed words that need to be thoroughly mastered during postgraduate entrance exam preparation. This part is based on the word frequency statistics of past exam papers, compiled using advanced computer technology. The vocabulary is supplemented and refined by referring to authoritative dictionaries such as Oxford, Longman, the English-Chinese Dictionary, and the Multifunctional Dictionary. It represents the core, most important, and essential part of postgraduate entrance exam vocabulary. This part has three distinctive features in terms of content and explanation:
1. Emphasis on Exam and Difficult Word Explanations
The new postgraduate entrance exam syllabus lists English words only, without providing Chinese translations, making it difficult for candidates to grasp the meanings. Many students lose points in the exam due to misunderstandings of word meanings. To address this, we have carefully selected and highlighted the meanings of exam words and easily overlooked difficult word explanations, marked as 【Exam】 and 【Difficult】, respectively. This helps candidates target their study weaknesses, break through blind spots, and overcome bottlenecks.
2. In-depth Exam Coverage
In this part, each word entry includes sub-sections such as "Reading Comprehension," "Cloze," and "Writing Sentence Patterns," providing thorough and in-depth explanations for the three main exam question types. This helps candidates improve their foundational abilities in these areas while mastering vocabulary.
- Reading Comprehension includes over 600 exam example sentences and selected classic examples from various materials, ensuring timeliness, practicality, and appropriateness. These sentences vary in length, structure, and usage, with logical coherence. Mastering them will significantly enhance your exam preparation. Candidates can translate these sentences into Chinese first and then compare to identify gaps, thereby improving reading and translation skills.
- Cloze is accompanied by preposition collocations and selected word differentiation exercises, helping candidates understand common exam points.
- Writing Sentence Patterns provides nearly 200 high-scoring sentence structures, enabling candidates to familiarize themselves with templates and approach writing with confidence.
3. Idiomatic Sentences for Memorization
This part also includes an "Idiomatic Sentences" section, featuring synonyms, near-synonyms, and derivatives appearing together for efficient memorization, or profound and meaningful quotes that can enhance writing skills.
Part 2: Comprehension-Based Vocabulary (Days 16-18)
Comprehension-based vocabulary refers to common cognitive words frequently encountered in postgraduate entrance exam reading. In this part, the focus is on contextual memorization rather than detailed point explanations.
Part 3: Basic Vocabulary (Days 19-20)
This part lists middle school-level vocabulary from the postgraduate entrance exam syllabus. The words are presented with phonetic transcriptions and simple explanations, arranged in columns for quick review, helping candidates fill gaps, review familiar words, and reinforce forgotten ones.
