Features: In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), it is believed that all foods possess "Four Qi," also known as "Four Properties," referring to the four distinct characteristics of food: cold, hot, warm, and cool. According to TCM, fruits follow the same principle. When fruits with different properties enter the body, they produce effects corresponding to "cold, hot, warm, and cool." If a fruit's effect is neither hot nor cold, it is classified as "neutral." TCM defines "hot" fruits as those with high calorie and high sugar content. After consuming these fruits, liver glycogen synthesis increases, and the ratio of insulin to glucose-stimulating hormone rises, making it easier to experience "internal heat" and increased body energy, thus feeling "hot." Conversely, fruits with low calorie density, rich in dietary fiber, and low sugar content are considered "cold." When eaten, the dietary fiber and water in these fruits occupy space in the stomach and intestines, making it harder to consume other nutritious foods. Overconsumption can lead to fatigue and an increasing tendency to feel cold and weak. Of course, if a person's nutrition is sufficient, consuming any type of fruit in moderation generally does not cause significant issues. Therefore, it is crucial to understand the properties of fruits before choosing them.
