Features: This book is based on the "Basic Requirements for University Physics Teaching in Non-Physics Majors of Science and Engineering" (Discussion Draft) formulated by the Ministry of Education in 2004, incorporating research achievements in university physics teaching from recent years at home and abroad. It maintains the characteristics of the authors' previous textbooks, draws on teaching experiences of physics teachers from some universities in Hubei, Guangxi, and Tianjin, and incorporates suggestions from trial use in some universities in these regions. It is suitable for teaching use in general institutions. The book is published in two volumes. The first volume includes three major parts: Mechanics, Basic Principles of Special Relativity, and Electromagnetism. The second volume includes Thermal Physics, Vibrations and Waves, Optics, Basic Principles of Quantum Physics, and an extended section on topics such as Molecular and Solid Physics, Nuclear Physics and Particle Physics, Astrophysics and Cosmology, and the Physical Foundations of Modern Science and High Technology. Each section is selected in accordance with the principle of "ensuring fundamentals, strengthening modern physics, connecting with practical applications, and facilitating teaching," with attention paid to highlighting physical thinking methods. To facilitate teaching, the authors have carefully selected examples, exercises, and reading materials throughout the book, marking some content with an asterisk () for the convenience of teachers with different requirements. A companion book, "University Physics Study Guide," has been compiled, including teaching requirements, study guidance, complete solutions to exercises, self-assessment tests, and mock exams, to reduce students' learning pressure. This textbook can be used as a teaching material for university physics courses in non-physics majors at higher education institutions, or as a teaching reference for vocational and technical colleges. The book is published in two volumes, with the first volume including three major parts: Mechanics, Basic Principles of Special Relativity, and Electromagnetism.
