Features: The Reform and Opening-Up policy has led to a booming development in China's tourism industry, and the hotel industry has also grown rapidly. The development and expansion of the hotel industry have resulted in a rapid increase in the number of hotel staff. As competition in the hotel industry intensifies, the requirements for employees are becoming increasingly high. At the same time, with economic development and social progress, consumer psychology is becoming more mature. Guests are becoming more rational in their spending at star-rated hotels and have higher expectations for them. Therefore, star-rated hotels must not only improve the quality of their employees in all aspects but also provide personalized services to meet guest needs, thereby attracting more guests and enhancing the economic benefits of star-rated hotels. This personalized service refers to providing targeted and exceptional services based on the different physiological and psychological needs of guests, requiring hotel staff to "think of guests and focus on guests" while working, giving each guest "special attention," and providing proactive, flexible, and exceptional services as needed according to guest requests. The fundamental purpose of personalized services provided by hotels is actually to improve the quality of hotel services. And service quality is a topic that is always relevant in the hotel industry. Service quality is not only related to the operation, profitability, and reputation of hotels but also to their success or failure, which is a consensus among industry professionals. For this reason, service quality is receiving increasing attention from industry professionals. It can be said that service quality is the key to the success or failure of hotels, so hotels must use various means to strive to improve service quality. In the hotel industry, there is a widely accepted equation: 100 - 1 = 0. It has two meanings: First, the products sold by hotels consist of various service items, and each service item, such as rooms, dining, and entertainment, represents the overall image of the hotel. If any one item has a quality issue, it not only damages the reputation of that item but also the reputation of the entire hotel, hence 100 - 1 = 0. Second, when guests stay at a hotel, their consumption consists of various service items. If a guest is dissatisfied with any one of these service items, their satisfaction will not decrease incrementally but will be completely negated, as they cannot experience all the service items. In their view, the service item they experienced represents the quality of all items. Under increasingly fierce market competition, they will not return as repeat customers to consume the services provided by the hotel, making the hotel's service revenue zero. Therefore, fundamentally speaking, service quality is the lifeblood of hotels. It tells us that, from the customer's perspective, service quality only has two categories: good or bad, with no comparison of better or worse. Good means everything, and bad means zero. However, high-quality hotel services ultimately depend on the efforts of the majority of service staff. These staff are scattered across various departments such as front desks, guest rooms, restaurants, and shopping malls, and most of the work is performed independently by service staff. The dispersed nature of the staff determines that management cannot supervise them at all times. Therefore, the level of service quality depends heavily on the majority of service staff. As a result, improving employee quality is the root of hotels improving service quality and economic benefits. Based on this, we have written the book "Hotel Service Manual," which is divided into ten chapters and covers various knowledge points and service aspects, from hotel service philosophy, basic knowledge, etiquette, and service quality management to front desk, guest room, restaurant, entertainment, shopping mall sales, and security services. The service standards summarized in the book are the basic guidelines for hotel employees to serve guests in their respective positions and are also the basic guidelines for hotel management and employee training. Therefore, this book is highly practical and serves as an indispensable reference tool for hotel management and employee work, greatly improving the service quality and economic benefits of hotels.
