Features: According to the "Practicing Physician Law of the People's Republic of China," China officially held its first National Medical Examination for Practicing Physicians in November 1999, marking the establishment of the country's physician examination system and elevating the standardized management of the physician workforce to a new level. The examination covers a broad scope and includes extensive content. To help candidates effectively review during their busy clinical practice, enabling them to not only recall forgotten knowledge but also refresh and expand their understanding while appreciating the requirements of physician practice, the National Medical Examination Center of the Ministry of Health commissioned more than 100 experts from various medical schools in China (including local and military institutions) to write the "National Medical Examination for Practicing Physicians (Assistants) Study Guide" series, based on the "National Medical Examination Syllabus" issued by the Ministry of Health. The book's features are: based on the physician examination syllabus, grounded in planned textbooks, with clinical competence as the focus, and emphasizing the comprehensive application of knowledge and theory. During the writing process, under the guidance of the National Medical Examination Center, the experts repeatedly reviewed the content of the entire book to ensure its scientific rigor, applicability, and authority. To align with the categories of the physician examination, this book series is also divided into six volumes: "Clinical Physician (Assistant) Study Guide," "Dental Physician (Assistant) Study Guide," and "Public Health Physician (Assistant) Study Guide." After three years of practice in the physician examination, at multiple candidate forums, all those who used this study guide reported significant benefits and gave unanimous praise, believing that the book would still be helpful to them during their early years as resident physicians. To better adapt to the new situation after China's entry into the WTO, reflect the requirements of health services for physicians, and meet the 21st-century medical talent cultivation goals proposed by international organizations such as the WHO, and to leverage the experience accumulated over three years of examination, the National Medical Examination Committee organized relevant experts in December 2001 to comprehensively revise the "National Medical Examination Syllabus for Practicing Physicians (Assistants)." The revised syllabus further emphasizes the requirements for physicians' comprehensive qualities, stresses the transformation of medical models, the concept of patient-centered and law-based practice, and the cultivation of clinical thinking and problem-solving skills, focusing on practical application and strengthening the comprehensive and integrated assessment of physicians' knowledge, abilities, and qualities. To meet the requirements of the new syllabus and satisfy the needs of candidates, the National Medical Examination Center again commissioned publishers to organize relevant experts to update and supplement the "National Medical Examination for Practicing Physicians (Assistants) Study Guide" series, ensuring a more comprehensive and accurate reflection of the knowledge content required for the examination.
