Features: In 2005, there was a debate in the world of essays about citizen writing. Although the debate unfortunately descended into personal conflicts and, I prefer to focus on the real issues at hand. The annual selection was published as a "Commentary on Major Events of 2005," with the hope of showcasing the richness of the human spirit and the diverse ways in which writers present their thoughts. Therefore, in selecting the included essays, emphasis was placed on works that offer independent observations and personal responses to society, life, and the human heart. As in previous years, the editor will recommend several authors who may not yet be fully recognized but are worthy of readers' trust. They are Da Erdeng, Wang Yuewen, Huang Bo, and Yang Yuzhe. During a period when essay writing became increasingly formulaic, they remained true to their individuality. Da Erdeng is versatile, with the wisdom of "defeating the enemy with ease." Wang Yuewen is concise yet insightful, possessing the discernment gained from life experience. Huang Bo is profound and introspective, with his works rich in a historical sense that spans the past and present. Yang Yuzhe has a unique perspective, demonstrating an exceptional style of thinking.
