General Theory of German Democratic Law

Author: (German) Karl Larenz Xie Bei Shi
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 2003-01-01
Features: In the textbook General Principles of German Civil Law, Karl Larenz primarily pursues the following academic objectives: not only to explain the legal provisions in the General Part of the German Civil Code, but also to reveal the foundation of private law and make readers aware of the system and basic concepts of civil law. When elaborating on the system of civil law, Larenz not only analyzes the so-called "external system," but also strives to uncover the so-called "internal system." Here, the "external system" refers to the conceptual organization and clarification of legal facts and legal institutions, while the "internal system" refers to the fundamental principles that govern the entire civil law and the substantive connections between these principles. Now, this book has been published in its 8th edition. The author of the 8th edition believes that he still has the obligation to fulfill the aforementioned academic objectives. The new edition continues to develop these academic goals by adapting them to the changes that have occurred. This fact has determined the necessity of making some adjustments to the content and structure of the original book. This preface aims to provide readers with a summary of these adjustments.
