Features: We often hear accomplished individuals sharing their life experiences and expressing a common consensus: if one encounters a good book or a book that brings significant benefits in life, it is an indispensable boost on the path to success. Every year, the college entrance examination (Gaokao) sees millions of candidates eager to fully showcase their talents, taking the first step toward achieving their lofty aspirations at the starting point of their journey. As frontline high school Chinese teachers and university instructors with years of experience in Gaokao grading, we deeply understand the struggles of candidates and are acutely aware of the knowledge and skills they must master, as well as the experiences and lessons they must learn during their precious preparation time. The book Analysis and Guidance on Common Errors in Gaokao Chinese Reading Comprehension we have written is precisely the study aid that candidates eagerly anticipate.
Over two decades ago, a journal quoted a profound statement by Zhou Enlai: “If I were to write a book, I would write about my life’s mistakes. This is not Rousseau’s Confessions, but rather to let the living learn from past errors.” (People’s Film, February and March 1978 issue). This richly meaningful maxim struck and inspired us. The errors frequently made by candidates in Gaokao Chinese actually reflect the misconceptions and blind spots in our own teaching. We have categorized and organized these errors into several types, and like doctors diagnosing causes and symptoms, we have prescribed treatments and provided guidance on preventive measures. Clearly, this is akin to analyzing our own mistakes to warn later generations, striving to avoid the common pitfalls of Gaokao Chinese and striving for good results.
