Features: "The Encyclopedia of Arms" is a specialized modern military encyclopedia. It is one of the series of military encyclopedic books organized and compiled by the Military Encyclopedia Research Department of the Military Academy of Sciences after the Central Military Commission entrusted the compilation of "The China Military Encyclopedia." During the compilation process of "The Encyclopedia of Arms," it strives to embody the following characteristics: First is systematicity. It primarily introduces modern armaments, making every effort to showcase some currently under development or about to be put into service high-tech armaments, introduce some well-known armaments that played prominent roles in previous wars, and reflect some armaments that have made significant technological progress in the history of armament development. The entire book includes 2,262 entries and 1,765 illustrations, providing a relatively comprehensive, complete, and systematic introduction to the knowledge of light weapons, artillery, armored vehicles, missiles, combat ships, combat aircraft, armed helicopters, chemical weapons, biological weapons, incendiary weapons, nuclear weapons, new-concept weapons, mines, naval mines, torpedoes, and other armaments. The second is scientificity. The compilation work adhered to the principle of "quality." The third is applicability. Comrade Jiang Zemin pointed out that with correct theoretical guidance and armed with modern science and technology, especially high-tech knowledge, the revolutionary, modern, and standardized construction of our army will have fundamental guarantees, and the quality and combat effectiveness of our army will be greatly improved. Armaments are the materialization of science and technology. In response to Comrade Jiang Zemin's call to promote science and technology knowledge learning throughout the army, each entry in "The Encyclopedia of Arms" strives to accurately and concisely explain the technical and tactical performance, development history, and equipment and usage of armaments, with the aim of providing consulting services for military and police personnel, militia and reserve personnel, and other readers interested in armaments to learn and query basic armament knowledge.
