Features: The essence of sketching is line. However, in reality, line does not exist on its own—it represents the boundaries of objects, colors, and planes, serving as a visual expression for the viewer. Artists use the techniques of sketching lines to create perfect and meticulous sketches through simple outlines. Its charm lies in the artist's ability to distinguish between three-dimensional and flat forms using lines, and to express color, light and shadow, object structure, the disappearance and interruption of boundaries, and other shaping languages in monochrome. Sketching employs a variety of tools, such as charcoal, pencils, chalk, brushes, and pens. The choice of tools depends on the artistic effect the artist wishes to achieve. Different tools influence the nature and interest of the sketch, as well as the artist's emotions and skills. In terms of work size, large sketches are often drawn with charcoal and pencils, allowing for prolonged and careful study and refinement, while pens are typically used for smaller works. Sketching can also use multi-colored brushes as basic materials to enhance the effect and artistic quality of the sketch. For beginners, learning sketching is not an overnight or easily attainable task. In the early stages, it is often felt to be rather dull and progress is slow. However, with perseverance and a systematic, step-by-step learning approach, progressing from drawing geometric shapes to still life and figure studies, one can achieve rigorous and solid sketching skills. In summary, in response to the current needs of art academies and the general public, our publishing house has compiled this series of "Art Foundation Teaching Books," divided into series such as sketching, color, and quick sketches. We will publish them in categories to meet the learning needs of and enthusiasts.
